A men only policy is a sexist and transphobic policy, no matter how you look at it. It may be true that a policy like this attempts to limit the bachelorette parties by straight women in gay bars, which can be unnerving sometimes, but a policy like this is used to justify the exclusion of ALL women, regardless of the situation, including: cis straight women, lesbians, and transwomen. Also, I have seen some pretty fucked up uses of power and privilege by GAY MEN in gay bars, directed against men and women. A male only space is NEVER a safe space, it can NEVER be, even for a lot of gay men. ALL MALE SPACE IS WOMYN’S SPACE. WOMYN, OF ALL KINDS, INHABIT YOUR LOCAL GAY BAR WITH A FEROCITY.
